Police mentioned they were notified by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.

City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.

A high-ranking official commented the attack rendered him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
