The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration About Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
